John The Baptist

“They call me John The Baptist” he answered when I asked his name. “Here and there” is where he lives. His hands create little masterpieces made from leaves of the palm tree. I was just taking video of people when I walked by him, I sat close enough to watch his hands at work and it was so fascinating that I had to start taking pictures and talking to him. A very sweet well mannered human being, that explained that his name came from being able to tell the word of the lord to anyone who asked. His expression reflected a troubled but well experienced life, his voice and word a man with a good heart, his hands an artist that was never found.

The little I spoke to him the more I could have romanticized the moment. It was like discovering the soul of a real human being, like finding that lost page of a book that held the secret to the story. The only problem is that I now wish to be able to find the other pages as well so I could read the entire book. I wish one day soon I could sit down with John and query his mind, his stories, his life and perhaps find a way through film to show you who he is!
